Giving to MITEI

We're using innovation to power the future. Join us.

The scope of the world's energy problems calls for a comprehensive portfolio of responses to environmental, economic, scientific, security, and political issues.

Under the MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI), Institute researchers are hard at work on this portfolio, addressing alleviating immediate shortage, security, and environmental concerns. We are also working to find secure, economically viable, and environmentally sustainable energy sources.

Contributions from MITEI Affiliate Members advance the overall goals of the Initiative and specifically support one of the following student-oriented programs at the Member's discretion:

  • The MIT Undergraduate Research Opportunities Project or "UROP" provides support for a Named Student to conduct energy research in a faculty member's laboratory over the summer.
  • The MITEI Education Program, shaped by MITEI's Education Task Force, is a key component of MITEI and coordinates MIT-wide energy activities.
  • The MITEI Campus Energy Management Program (the "Walk the Talk" Program), another key component of MITEI, promotes the MIT campus and physical plant as an "energy laboratory" to demonstrate the application of new sustainable living innovations on campus.
  • MITEI Director's Outreach Fund seeds a range of research, education, campus energy management and outreach activities.
